Civil War Reenactment at Confederate Reunion Grounds By Rachel Smith, Educator, Confederate Reunion Grounds On April 29-30, the Friends of the Confederate Reunion Grounds will host its 23rd annual Civil War Living History and Reenactment at Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historic Site. Tuesday - Saturday Reenactments were also staged as a means of training new recruits and as a form of patriotic entertainment for the folks back home. At scheduled Scouting Living History programs at historic forts and other historic sites, crew members participate in various drills, fatigue duties and other demonstrations as well as provide interpretive history tours at Fort Richardson State Park. The annual reenactment marks the anniversary of "The Siege of Port Hudson.". The event is open to both students and the public. 11:15 a.m., Saturday, May 6th, 2023 at The Jeffersonian Institute. Experience centuries of military history during Jamestown Settlement's time-honored Military Through the Ages event, an annual event since 1984. The crews activities primarily include Civil & Indian War reenactments complete with battles and Victorian dances.
